Clarification on LED Matrix Type

Dear ERC Organizers,

We came across the specification for a “16cm x 16cm WS1812B LED matrix” in the technical handbook, and just wanted to check, could this be a typo?

As far as we can tell, the WS1812B doesn’t seem to exist (or it’s hiding really well), while the WS2812B is a widely available and commonly used part for LED matrices of that size.

Could you please confirm which one is actually required?
We’d like to be sure we’re getting the correct component, and not chasing mythical LEDs. :joy:

Appreciate the help, and sorry for the hassle, just trying to stay on the safe side.

Best regards,
Konstantin

Yes, we noticed the same thing! We’re currently using the WS2812B for testing with the ESP32, and we’re also running a Python script to validate UART communication with the LED matrix. From what we’ve found, there doesn’t seem to be any trace of a WS1812B, so we also hope it’s just a typo in the handbook.

Regards,
Team Shunya
