Your new ERC practice world is here! 🌍

Hello, ERC Remote Participants!

Our team, Shunya, is excited to share our new repository for a world you can use to benchmark your navigation packages.

We started with the practice world provided by Mind Cloud and Sapienza, and we’ve made some significant upgrades to get it closer to the actual final environment:

  • Level-wise anomaly placement: We’ve arranged the anomalies to get progressively harder as you move through the world. This lets you test from basic to complex scenarios step-by-step. (We’ve also included the URDF and a running package to make implementation easy.)
  • Reduced computational load: The world is now optimized to run on standard PCs, even with lots of anomalies.
  • Mars yard improvements: We added new textures and optimized rendering for more efficient and repeatable testing.
  • Controller activation fix: We adjusted spawn parameters to get rid of the delays that were preventing controllers from activating on some systems.

These changes keep the original world’s foundation while making sure you get stable performance and a more systematic way to test your code.

This world is designed to closely mimic the final ERC Mars Yard based on information from previous years’ models and a video shared on this forum.

Good luck with your testing!
